How it works
Repeated letters
Wordle colors a guess in two passes. First every letter in the right spot turns green. Then, left to right, a letter turns yellow only while the answer still has an unused copy of it; the rest are gray.
So a gray letter doesn't always mean "not in the word". Guess LEVEL against HOTEL and the first L and E are gray, but the word still has one of each. This solver never hand-codes rules like that: a word stays on the list only if guessing your words against it would produce exactly the colors you entered.
Suggestions
Quick scores each word by how many remaining candidates share its letters and letter positions. Best works out, for every allowed guess, how it would split the remaining words into color patterns and picks the one that tells you the most on average (expected information, in bits). Best runs in a background thread so the page stays responsive.
Word lists
The solver searches every valid word (the public-domain ENABLE list plus SCOWL) and never hides one that fits your colors. Common words, from SCOWL's common-word level, are listed first and count fully when ranking guesses; uncommon words count a tenth as much, because the daily answer is almost always a common word. Any five letters you type are accepted, since you're copying guesses the game already took. Details in SOURCES.md.
